I live in New Jersey and my gf really wants to go to college in California. I just wanted to know your guys opinions..is it worth it? Is it a good experience to be away from your family? should i go to college in California?

If you're just going to be near your girlfriend, it's not worth it. Go to a college you want to go to. But if you there's a college you want to go to in California, then it's worth it. It would be a good experience to be away from your family, but if you get homesick, then you're VERY far away, and that could be tough. If this college has what you want to study, go for it! It would be a great experience.

Life in California is so much more expensive, especially for a college student. Plus you get home sick, you never know how much you miss someone until they're not always there

read Cash Flow Quadrant. Define the lifestyle you want. Big houses, Fast cars Learn from those that have that lifestyle. Find someone who has this Do what they did to get that lifestyle. self explanitory

Yeah Cali is a big state though, going to college in Oakland is very different from going to college in say San Fransisco. It all depends on what colleges you guys can get into, pick a nice college in a nice area and I am sure it will be a pleasant experience, however, going to the same college as a girlfriend is never, ever a good idea, for a multitude of reasons.

I am visiting california (been here 8 months). Im not taking my classes here, but its definitely a good experience to get out on your own. Housing is very expensive though. There are better schools in the country, but if california is really where you want to go, go for it! =)

Who wouldn't want to go to California, either for just a few years of school or vacation. It's a perfect opportunity for you to see life outside of New Jersey. Consider applying to UC(University of California) schools rather than CSU(Cal State University) schools. UC schools are typically better than Cal State schools. Ex, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC San Diego.

That's funny. I live in NJ and i have an ex girlfriend in California who im still in love with. Of course I am thinking of going there for college because i would find a good college there anyway. But if you cant find a school for your choice then don't do it. Good luck!
