can you go to a community college in California without being a resident for a year

can you go to a community college in California without being a resident for a year?
My friend who lives in California says that you can go to Pasadena Community College without being a resident for a year. Yeah I know that you're going to end up paying more then if you were a resident. Is Pasadena the only community college that you can get in without being a resident for 1 year or is that not even true?

Hell nah!! Anyone can go to community college they don't backround check you like a seriouse college like harvard or yale or ucla community college is for everyone even if your not here legally your still abled to go to any community college. Its just that if your not here legally or aren't a resident you tend to pay more than a resident of the US.
Answer 2 :
You can attend the CA community colleges if you aren't a resident, but it will cost you from about $5000 - $6000 more a year, and you may not become a resident after a year, it's complicated. Also, even if you did become a resident at a CC (after attending for a year or more), you would absolutely not be a resident for tuition purposes at the UC's (like UCLA), you can see that info on their website. It will likely be more difficult to go from non-resident to resident at a CC soon, due to California's financial problems. It's generally not a big deal to apply as a US non-resident, you probably won't see anything about it when applying online until you get to the fee (tuition) part. The big problem will be the cost of living in CA, which is very high, and we don't have jobs. Check out the website of the CC you are interested in and see what it says about non-residents. If you're an international student, you will need written bank proof of about $20,000 in a cash account before you can get your visa from the US, the info is on the college websites. International students may get priority registration. Good luck!

Answer 1 :
http://www.vetmed.ucdavis.edu/studentprograms/subpages/basic_requirements.html That's UC Davis Vet School's admissions page. UC Davis is a top vet school in the country. There aren't many vet schools period. Vet school is something you attend after getting your bachelors. One thing you might as well start doing is to start volunteering/working with animals. You need 180 hours at least. You can go to any 4 year college for undergrad. Here are the required courses: Required Courses The majority of required science coursework must be completed at the time of application. Pending courses must be completed prior to matriculation. Lower Division Required Science Courses One year of General Biology - w/lab One year of General Chemistry - w/lab One year of Organic Chemistry - w/lab One year of Physics - no lab required Upper Division Required Science Courses (must be taken at a four-year college) One semester of Biochemistry One semester of Systemic Physiology One semester of Genetics Additional Required English (12 quarter or 8 semester units-one course must be an English Composition course) Humanities and Social Sciences (12 quarter or 8 semester units) Statistics (one quarter or semester of any Statistics course ie medical, business, ag, etc.)
Answer 2 :
I believe UC Davis seems to have a fairly large vet. program.

If I live in North Carolina, and I want to go to college in California, could I get financial AID

If I live in North Carolina, and I want to go to college in California, could I get financial AID?
I live in NC right now and I am looking to attend college in California. I'm not really sure how things work with the out-of-state programs but I was wondering would I be able to get financial AID/student loan for out-of-state college?

Answer 1 :
Yes, you definitely can get financial aid and student loans if you go to an out-of-state college. I'm from California and attended a university in Connecticut with no problems at all, and my family is quite poor. You might be ineligible for state help, but you won't have any problems getting federal aid. For example, California gives some of its student residents the Cal Grant, but because I went to school in Connecticut, I was ineligible for this grant. I'm not sure if North Carolina has a similar grant program, but let me reassure you it's not a big deal going to an out-of-state college. Just keep in mind that public schools, such as UCLA, will often charge you more if you are an out-of-state student. Private schools, such as Stanford, won't charge out-of-state students any more or less. If you're looking at any of the UCs over here in California, I would recommend attending a California community college first and then transferring. It's waaaay cheaper, and they make the process very easy. Junior-level community college students (that is, students who have completed two years at a community college) get priority when they apply. If your grades are decent, you're almost guaranteed to be accepted. They'll even write up contracts with the school you want to go to. You agree to take certain classes and pass with good grades, and they agree to reserve your spot when you're ready to transfer. You get your general education out of the way, as well as lower division major requirements, and once you're at the UC, it's smooth sailing. It's a great system. You can do the same thing for CSUs. See assist.org for more information on transferring between California public colleges and universities.
