Can I attend a California Community College with pending I-485?
Can I attend a california community college with a pending I-485 and have lived here for at least 4 years (proof via high school transcript). Can I get in-state tuition also? If possible, can you post the link where it says I am eligible. Thank you very much.

Does going to a california college require a Visual and Performing Arts credit

Does going to a california college require a Visual and Performing Arts credit?
I know that you need a-g requirements but i'm not sure if you need all of them. I don't want to take a class that I don't need to take but on the other hand I don't want to be rejected from a California school because I didn't take one class.

Answer 1 :
yep
Answer 2 :
Yes, you need all of the a - g requirements, and actually you need to go beyond to be competitive. (f): Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) dance | drama/theater | music | visual arts 1 year required - A single yearlong approved arts course from a single discipline: dance, drama/theater, music, or visual art. Are you currently a CA resident? If you aren't, and you wish to attend a UC, you will pay about $23,000 a year in non-resident fees (on top of all other fees), for all 4 years. It is almost impossible to become a resident for tuition purposes for a typical non-resident student. The info is on their websites. Good luck!

Would you let your only child go to college from Pennsylvania all the way to california

Would you let your only child go to college from Pennsylvania all the way to california?
Our only child wants to go to california for college. She went out there on a vacation and loved it. we want her to go somewhere closer! Would you let her go? To the people who say she is an adult, she actually isnt. she will be 17 when starting college. She is a year ahead, which i why i am concerned to let her go

Answer 1 :
Yes, if the college offered the program she was looking for. It's not about you. It's about what's best for your daughter.
Answer 2 :
It is up to her, she's big girl now....
Answer 3 :
If you can afford it, yes. I would encourage my child to be as outgoing and willing to explore the world as much as possible. (Assuming they are responsible.) One of my biggest fears is for my son to grow up timid, shy, and afraid to try anything. Like me. So I think you should encourage her. If it's not this, it'll be something else. Good luck!
Answer 4 :
Look when she is at college it wont matter if she is 75 miles from home or 2000 miles from home - its just the fact that she isnt home. Let her go if you can afford out of state tuition, if not tell her to get scholarships or stay in your home state.
Answer 5 :
Yes, as long as you can afford the tuition and traveling expenses .and the school is really a good fit for her I'm hopefully going to be going to college at Northwestern in Illinois and my family now lives in Australia because of my dad's job. We're from the Chicago area and moved there a few years ago and live away from everyone we know. You learn how to adapt by Skyping, IM'ing and everything else you've got available to stay in touch.
Answer 6 :
she is an ADULT there is no "letting"
Answer 7 :
If she's 18 or older it's not my decision. I have one child and that doesn't enter into my decisions about her. Besides, kids from California have to travel just as far to attend Ivy League schools in the east. Let her go, mom. All the best.
Answer 8 :
Let them? How do you intend to prevent them? Snap out of it. When you had the kid you knew they would grow up and move away - the way you likely did. If you ever want them to return, be supportive or risk driving them away for good.

Can a College student from Mexico transfer to California College

Can a College student from Mexico transfer to California College?
I have a cousin from Mexico who is studying architecture but he wants to move to Cali and study here. Can he transfer to a college here or does he need a diploma from a US high school?
Higher Education (University +) - 2 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
He needs a education permit to study here and would probably have to take some sort of placement exam.
Answer 2 :
He's unlikely to be accepted to a USA accredited School of Architecture unless his school results in Mexico were outstanding.
