How much does Community College cost in California

How much does Community College cost in California?
I don't have the money and don't want to take out a loan to go to a University. So what I want to know is in California how much (about) would it cost to go to a Community College? And what could I go for? Thankyou to those of you who answer.

Answer 1 :
It costs about $2000 a year to go to a Community College in California. You can do your general education requirements for a 4 year college or get an AA in a variety of subjects. Which ones depend on the specific CC.
Answer 2 :
If you are a current CA resident, the cost is $26 a unit, but it's supposed to go up to $36 a unit for Fall 2011. So for 12 units x 2 semesters (24 units in an academic year), it will cost you about $950 including some small additional fees. Classes are generally 1 - 5 units, depending on the class. 12 units is full time. (CC's usually have summer sessions, and some have short winter sessions, that you can attend also. You always pay by unit.) Non-resident students pay $202 additional per unit (starting in Fall 2011, it was $183), for a total of $238 per unit. Look on a local CC website for complete details, search for cost of attendance, or fees. It depends on where you live, but additional expenses will be books and supplies, maybe around $1600+ a year, room & board -- cost depends on if you live at home or rent an apartment, transportation -- cost depends on if you have a car, take public transportation, personal expenses -- depends on you. It depends on the community college, but there is just about everything at CC's. Acting, filmmaking, plumber, electrician, baker, chef, fashion designer, cosmetologist, firefighter, EMT, etc, in addition to general education for transferring to a 4 year college after 2 years. Look at the website of the community college closest to your home, and if you don't see a program that interests you (if you're not going for a transfer, but just to learn a skill), look at another CC. You can apply for financial aid, if you've just graduated from high school it will be based on your parents' financial situation. If you want to attend in Fall, look into applying asap. The earlier you apply, the sooner you can register for class, and often it's tough for new students to get all the classes they want since the budget cuts caused class cancellations, and more people are going to CC to learn a new skill to be employable.
