I finished two years at orange coast community college and received a 3.2 GPA. I want to go to PEPPERDINE, CHAPMAN, USC, USD, or UCLA for business. Do i have any chance of getting into those schools with my GPA? does the fact im a veteran help me out? should i do community service to help my odds?

Answer 1 :
For UC schools see: http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/transfer/files/2010_tagmatrix_final4.pdf Here are the requirements for a typical University of California school to transfer: http://www.admissions.ucsb.edu/pdf/UCSB%20Fall%202011-12%20TAG.pdf Apply to all of them. You are marginal for a UC school but Chapman and CSUF should accept you with no problem. Being a veteran is all the community service you need about 50 times over.
Answer 2 :
USD= good chance UCLA= tough USC = tough Pepperdine = tough some schools to think about: UCI UCR UCD

You can probably get into most CSUs and maybe USD. UCLA and USC is probably going to be a reach for you because business there is competitive and you might be at least a little short GPA wise. I dont know if being a vet helps or not (i simply dont have that experence to speak from) but i think taking a couple more transferrable classes at your community college could help raise your GPA. I strongly recommend applying to all those schools, the good CSUs that have a business school and anything else you want to go to. If you just put all your eggs in one or two baskets and the basket breaks, you could very well have to wait another year to apply again and that just delays your graduation (if you catch my drift...) Applying to more schools just increases your chances of getting into somewhere, which means you wont be wasting a semester.
